The Staff Selection Commission has released an official notice of SSC GD Exam cancellation at various centers. This is due to some technical reasons as per the authorities. The exam is being conducted in various centers across the country from 27th April 2026 till end of May. The admit card for the CBT was released at ssc.gov.in on 25th April, 2026. Earlier, the CBT was scheduled on 23rd February 2026. However, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) had postponed the exam until further notice. The new exam dates have now been announced.  

The SSC GD Notification PDF was released for 25,487 vacancies of General Duty (GD) Constables in CAPFs, SSF, and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles. Candidates must refer to the official notification to check details of eligibility, exam pattern, selection process and exam schedule. As per the official SSC Calendar, the SSC GD 2027 Notification will be released in September 2026.

SSC GD New Medical Guidelines

The SSC has revised the medical examination guidelines for SSC GD Constable 2026 based on the latest clarification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. As per the update, candidates will no longer be rejected on the basis of weight during the Physical Standard Test (PST). The key changes includes:

• PST Board will no longer reject candidates based on weight
• Weight assessment will be done during Medical Examination (MET)
• BMI range of 18–25 set as the eligibility standard
• Candidates outside the BMI range may be disqualified

SSC GD New Rules of Objection

The Staff Selection Commission, on 24 April 2026, introduced new rules for objections in SSC GD exams, where candidates can challenge the tentative answer key. The objections against the answer key are reviewed by Subject Matter Experts based on the merit rather than the number of complaints. In case if a question is found to be incorrect, ambiguous or out of syllabus then the question is discarded and marks are awarded to all candidates. Also if multiple answers exist, candidates seeking any correct option receive full marks while minor errors or technical objections will be ignored and only valid and meaningful challenges will be considered for final answer key preparation.

SSC GD Exam Date 2026 Out

The SSC GD Exam Date 2026 has been announced. According to the notice, the SSC GD Computer Based Test will be conducted from 27th April 2026 and will continue till end of May 2026. The examination period will be held over the following four windows:

• Week 1 (27th April, 2026 to 2nd May, 2026)
• Week 2 (4th May, 2026 to 9th May, 2026)
• Week 3 (18th May, 2026 to 23rd May, 2026)
• Week 4 (25th May, 2026 to 30th May, 2026)

Candidates shall be required to indicate their order of preference for all the windows, based on their convenience. The facility for submission of examination week preferences will be made available to candidates from 11th April, 2026 (3.00 PM) to 15th April, 2026 (5.00 PM).

SSC GD online form needs a live photograph and a scanned signature in the sizes given below, otherwise the form can be rejected.​

• The system captures a live photo during the form; you do not have to upload an old photo.​
• Use a plain background with good light.
• Sit/stand straight, look directly at the camera, keep your face inside the red box, and do not be too close or too far.​

SSC GD Signature Size

For the signature file that you upload:

• Format: JPEG/JPG only.
• File size: 10 KB to 20 KB.
• Dimensions: About 6.0 cm (width) × 2.0 cm (height), with resolution around 300 DPI.​
• Signature must be horizontal, clear and not miniature; blurred or very small signatures are rejected.​

The SSC GD selection process has multiple steps that involve checking theoretical knowledge with mandatory physical and medical checks. Only candidates meeting academic, physical and document requirements are called for final appointment.

SSC GD 2026 Syllabus

There are four sections in the SSC GD syllabus 2026: 

1. General Intelligence & Reasoning
2. General Knowledge & General Awareness
3. Elementary Mathematics
4. English/Hindi

The syllabus is based on the difficulty level of Class 10th. To study the syllabus thoroughly, candidates must prepare basic NCERT level syllabus. Important syllabus topics from each subject are provided below. 

1. General Intelligence & Reasoning (20 Qs): Analogies, Similarities/Differences, Spatial Visualization/Orientation, Visual Memory, Discrimination, Observation, Relationship Concepts, Arithmetical Reasoning, Figural Classification, Arithmetic Number Series, Non-Verbal Series, Coding-Decoding.
2. General Knowledge & General Awareness (20 Qs): Focus on India and neighboring countries including Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic Scene, General Policy, Indian Constitution, Scientific Research and Current Affairs.
3. Elementary Mathematics (20 Qs): Number Systems, Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions, Relationships between Numbers, Percentages, Ratio and Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and Loss, Discount, Mensuration, Time and Distance, Time and Work.
4. English/Hindi (20 Qs):
   1. English: Spotting Errors, Fill in the Blanks, Cloze Test, Synonyms/Antonyms, Idioms/Phrases, One-word Substitution, Spellings.

Hindi: संधि/संधि विच्छेद, उपसर्ग, प्रत्यय, पर्यायवाची, मुहावरे/लोकोक्तियाँ, विपरीतार्थक शब्द, वाक्यांश के लिए एक सार्थक शब्द, शब्द-युग्म, वाक्य-शुद्धि, वर्तनी, हिंदी व्याकरण (शब्द-अशुद्धि, वाक्य-अशुद्धि).

As per the SSC GD exam pattern 2026 the exam will be Computer Based Test (CBT) with 80 objective questions (20 per section). The CBT will be for a total of 160 marks over a duration of 60 minutes duration. There will be a 0.25 negative marking per wrong answer. SSC GD PET/PST and Medical Standards

SSC GD PET requires males to run 5 km in 24 minutes and females 1.6 km in 8.5 minutes; ex-servicemen exempted from PET. PST checks height (males 170 cm, females 157 cm; relaxations for hills), chest (males 80/85 cm), and weight proportional to height. SSC GD Constable 2026 Salary

SSC GD salary follows 7th Pay Commission Pay Level-3 (₹21,700 - ₹69,100 basic), with in-hand pay around ₹30,000-₹37,000 including DA, HRA, TA, and risk allowances. Job profile involves patrolling borders, guarding installations, maintaining law/order, and assisting in VIP security as a Constable in CAPFs. Promotions to Head Constable boost salary to Level-4 after experience.

The SSC GD Result 2026 and Merit List PDF is released after the CBT is conducted. The merit list is prepared from normalized CBT scores. Only candidates who qualify the CBT Result will be called to appear for PET/PST/medical round. The final selection is based on category-wise, force-wise ranks. SSC GD Constable 2026 Response Sheet

SSC GD Answer Key 2026 will be released after the CBT is conducted in March 2026. Once released, candidates can download their answer key and response sheet from ssc.gov.in by using their Roll Number and Password. Using this provisional Answer Key, candidates can calculate their estimated marks and predict their chances of qualifying for the next round of the selection process. The Staff Selection Commission allows candidates to raise objections against the provisional key within 4-5 days by paying an Objection Fees of ₹100 per question, after which the Final Answer Key is released. It displays correct options, marks details and helps candidates to predict cut-offs before results.

SSC GD Result

SSC GD result is released after the final answer key is out. It is published in the form of Merit List PDF comprising the roll numbers of candidates selected for the next stage of the selection process.
