What is the SSC CGL Full Form?

The full form of SSC CGL is Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level Examination. It was established in November 1975 under the Department of Personnel and Training. It functions as India’s central recruiting agency for Group B and C (non‑gazetted) posts across various ministries and departments. It is conducted annually at a national level. SSC CGL 2026 Apply Online

The SSC has started the SSC CGL 2026 Apply Online process for candidates who want to apply for various Group B and Group C posts. Interested candidates can submit their online application forms from 21 May 2026 to 22 June 2026 through the official SSC website. The last date to complete the online fee payment is 23 June 2026. Candidates will also get an application correction window from 29 June to 1 July 2026. How to Apply for SSC CGL Recruitment 2026?

You can apply for the SSC CGL Exam through online mode only by registering on the official SSC website at https://ssc.gov.in. The step-by-step process to fill out the SSC CGL Application Form is explained below.

Step 1: One-Time Registration (OTR)

First of all, you have to complete the One-Time Registration on the new SSC website ssc.gov.in or through the my SSC mobile app. This is mandatory for those who haven't registered on the new platform.

Step 2: Aadhaar-Based Authentication

During OTR, candidates should do Aadhaar-based authentication. Those not using Aadhaar must upload any other valid ID for their verification.

Step 3: Keep Documents Ready

You must keep certain documents ready before filling the application form, such as mobile number, email ID, Aadhaar or alternate ID proof, 10th exam details, and disability certificate (if applicable)

Step 4: Enter Personal/Educational Details

You’ll need to enter personal details such as DOB, and parent details must be re-entered for verification.

Step 5: Upload Photograph and Documents

Lastly, you have to capture live photos during submission. The photograph should be clear, without caps/spectacles, etc.

Step 6: Submit the Online Application

After OTR, fill the SSC CGL 2026 application form. All the details should be correct with the online fee payment before the deadline.

SSC CGL Part II Application Form

After this OTR Form, fill out the application form step by step.

Step 1: Log in to Your Account

First of all, log in using your registered email ID and password at ssc.gov.in or the mySSC app.

Step 2: Access the SSC CGL 2026 Application Form

Then, click on “Apply” under SSC CGL Examination 2026. The application form will open with some pre-filled details from your OTR.

Step 3: Fill in Basic and Educational Details

After that, fill in all the basic details and qualification details carefully.

Step 4: Upload Required Documents

Upload scanned copies of your signature and photograph (if not captured live during OTR).

Step 5: Preview and Verify Your Form

Before submitting, verify all the details properly.

Step 6: Pay the Application Fee

Pay the SSC CGL 2026 application fee online via UPI, net banking, or debit/credit cards.

Step 7: Submit and Print the Application Form

Once the fee is paid, submit the form. Take a printout or save a PDF; this will be needed throughout the recruitment process.

What is the SSC CGL Application Fee 2026?

The SSC CGL application fee will be given in the official Notification only. The application fee can be paid after filling out the application forms through BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, or RuPay Debit cards. The application fee for the General/OBC candidates is Rs. 100. However, women candidates and those from SC, ST, PwBD, and ESM categories are exempted from the fee. SSC CGL 2026 Eligibility Criteria

The SSC CGL Eligibility Criteria are specified in terms of parameters such as age, qualification, etc. The detailed eligibility requirements are also given in the official SSC CGL Notification.   • The applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university.
  • The minimum age limit is 18 years, and the maximum age limit is 32 years as of August 1, 2026. Upper age relaxation is given to candidates from reserved categories as per government norms.
  • The candidate must be either a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal or Bhutan or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1962.

SSC CGL Qualification

Candidates applying for the SSC CGL Examination must fulfill the educational qualifications. The educational qualifications vary depending on the role, with some positions demanding subject-specific degrees or additional experience. Here's a detailed table outlining the educational criteria for each post under SSC CGL.

Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute with at least 60% marks in Mathematics at 12th standard level OR Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at degree level.
Statistical Investigator Grade-II Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects from a recognized University or Institute. The candidate should have studied Statistics at the degree level in Part-I, Part-II, and Part-III or in all six semesters of a three-year degree course, not just a single paper.
Research Assistant in NHRC Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university/institute and at least one year of research experience in a recognized university or research institution.
All Other Posts Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university.

SSC CGL Nationality

Candidates must be Indian citizens or subjects of Nepal/Bhutan, or persons of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Those in the latter categories must obtain an eligibility certificate from the Government of India. Candidates without this certificate can appear for the exam, but will receive an appointment only after it's issued.

SSC CGL 2026 Selection Process

The SSC CGL (Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level) examination is a multi-tier exam conducted to recruit candidates for various Group B and Group C posts in the Indian government.

1. Tier I – Preliminary Examination

The first stage of the selection process will be the preliminary examination. The exam will be objective-type in nature and will consist of four sections: General Intelligence, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. The preliminary test is qualifying in nature. Candidates shortlisted in this stage will be called for the next stage, i.e., Mains Examination. The SSC CGL Preliminary Examination is conducted for a total of 200 marks within a specified time frame of 60 minutes.

2. Tier II – Main Examination

Tier II exam is also a computer-based test with several papers, depending on the post applied for. The Paper-I is compulsory for all and consists of questions from Quantitative Abilities, Reasoning, English, and General Awareness. Paper II (for JSO) and Paper III (for SI Grade-II) test statistical and economic knowledge, respectively. The marks of Tier II are important for final selection.

3. Document Verification (DV)

Candidates shortlisted after Tier II will have to appear for the Document Verification with their original certificates for the verification of all the details submitted during the filling of the application form.

4. Final Selection

The final selection is based on the marks which is obtained in Tier II (and Tier I for some posts). Candidates will be allotted posts based on their merit and post preferences.

SSC CGL 2026 Hall Ticket

The Staff Selection Commission will release SSC CGL Admit Card 2026 on its official website. The hall ticket will be available a week before the exam. Candidates will be required to download the call letter by logging in using their registration number and date of birth. They must promptly check important details like their name, roll number, form number, gender, category, signature, left thumb impression, photograph, exam date, exam time, and test center details printed on this hall ticket. It is mandatory to carry one photo identity proof, such as an Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Voter ID, or Driving License, to the exam center along with the admit card, failing which candidates will not be allowed to appear for the exam.

SSC CGL 2026 Response Sheet

The SSC CGL Answer Key serves as a reference for the candidates to verify their responses and estimate their scores in the exam even before the result is announced. Once released, candidates can check the Answer Key along with their response sheet on the official Answer Key link provided on the SSC website.

  • The answer key for each stage of the selection process is released separately within a few days after the exam is conducted.
  • The Staff Selection Commission will release a provisional and a final answer key. Candidates are allowed to raise objections against the provisional answer key only. Using the official Answer Key for the SSC CGL Exam, you can not only estimate your official scores for Tier 1 and Tier 2, but also predict whether you will qualify for the exam or not.

SSC CGL 2026 Cut Off

The cut-off marks for SSC CGL vary each year based on several factors, such as the total number of candidates appearing, the difficulty level of the exam, and the availability of vacancies in respective posts. In 2019, the cut-off for general category candidates in Tier 1 was around 65-70 marks out of 200. However, the cut-off is also different for reserved categories. Candidates need to obtain minimum qualifying marks separately in each tier of examination to clear the specific level. SSC CGL 2026 Result

In the recent events, the SSC CGL Tier 2 Result 2025 has been announced for the exam conducted on 18th and 19th January 2026. The Staff Selection Commission declares the SSC CGL Result in a phase-wise manner on the official website. The final Result will be released on the basis of the marks obtained by candidates in both Tier 1 and Tier 2 stages of the SSC CGL Exam. The Result will be released in the form of a Score Card containing the marks and qualifying status of the candidates. The scorecard will also contain details like sectional and overall marks obtained. The qualified candidates will be called for document verification and a medical test.
