Guidelines for Submission of RRB Technician Online Application 2026

Candidates applying for RRB Railway Technician Recruitment 2026 must follow all the instructions mentioned in the official notification carefully. The Railway Recruitment Board has provided important guidelines regarding application submission, RRB selection, and post preferences. RRB Technician Selection Process 2026

The selection process for RRB Technician Recruitment 2026 will consist of a Computer-Based Test followed by a Document Verification and Medical Examination round. The following are details of each stage of the Railway Technician selection process –

Stage 1 – CBT (Computer-Based Test)

The first stage is a computer-based test consisting of 100 objective-type questions for 100 marks. The exam will be conducted separately for the posts of Technician Grade III and Grade I Signal.

The RRB Technician CBT exam will consist of questions from subjects like General Awareness, General Intelligence & Reasoning, Mathematics, General Science, etc. varying for each post. It will be a 90-minute online exam conducted to shortlist candidates for the next round based on their performance.

Stage 2 – Document Verification

Shortlisted candidates will be called for verification of original documents submitted with the application form. Candidates will have to bring original documents such as certificates, Marks sheets, caste certificates, proof of date of birth, etc. to verify the information provided during the application. The candidates whose documents are found to be in order will be eligible for the next round of RRB Technician medical examination.

Stage 3 – Medical Examination

Candidates who clear the document verification process will have to undergo a medical test conducted by the prescribed medical authorities under the Railways. In this stage, a candidate's physical and mental fitness for the post will be examined through common medical tests. Only candidates found medically fit as per Railway Medical standards will be recruited for the RRB Technician post.

Final selection and appointment will be subject to passing all three stages of RRB Technician Selection Process.

RRB Technician Eligibility Criteria 2026

RRB Technician Nationality

To be eligible for the Technician position in Railways, candidates must fulfill the nationality criteria as specified by the Government of India.

• The applicant must be a citizen of India or a citizen of Nepal or Bhutan. Tibetan refugees who came to India before January 1, 1962, intending to settle here permanently, are also eligible. Additionally, individuals of Indian origin who have migrated from countries like Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam with the intent of permanent settlement in India can also apply.
• However, candidates falling under these categories must possess a valid Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Government of India.

RRB Technician Age Limit 2026 (As on 01.07.2026)

RRB Technician Educational Qualification

Railway Technician Salary

The RRB Technician Salary 2026 is decided as per the 7th Pay Commission. A Technician Grade 3 gets a basic pay of ₹19,900 per month, while Technician Grade 1 (Signal) receives a higher basic pay of ₹29,200 per month. Along with basic pay, employees are paid Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, and other benefits. 

After adding all allowances, the monthly in-hand salary usually ranges between ₹30,000 and ₹50,000, depending on the post and posting city. Deductions like NPS and PF are applied as per rules. RRB Technician Admit Card 2026

The admit card for the RRB Technician CBT examination will be released 7 to 10 days before the examination. RRB Technician Answer Key 2026

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) will release the answer key for the RRB Technician 2026 recruitment exam on their official website after the computer-based examination. Candidates will be able to view and download the RRB Technician Answer Key for each series/shift of the exam separately. Candidates will be given a window to raise objections, if any, against the provisional answer key by paying a non-refundable fee per question. Based on the valid objections received, RRB will prepare the final answer key. The result for the RRB Technician recruitment exam will be prepared on the basis of the final answer key only.

RRB Technician Cut Off 2026

The RRB Technician Cut Off Marks for the Technician Grade I and III exam are expected to be released along with the result. The cut-off will vary for different categories and different RRB regions/zones.
