Before applying for the examination, candidates must be aware of the IBPS PO eligibility criteria specified by the authorities in terms of their age, qualifications, experience, etc.
IBPS PO Nationality/Citizenship of Applicants
To apply for the IBPS CRP/Bank PO exam, candidates must meet specific nationality or citizenship criteria. A candidate must be either.
- (i) a Citizen of India or
- (ii) a subject of Nepal or (iii) a subject of Bhutan or (iv) a Tibetan Refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India or (v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

IBPS PO Educational Qualification (As on 21st July 2026)
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a university recognized by the Government of India or possess an equivalent qualification approved by the Central Government. Applicants must have a valid mark sheet or degree certificate confirming their graduation status as on the date of online registration. Additionally, they are required to mention the percentage of marks obtained in their graduation while completing the application process.
IBPS PO Percentage Calculation
While applying for IBPS PO 2026, candidates must calculate their graduation percentage based on the following criteria.
- The percentage will be calculated by dividing the total marks obtained in all subjects across all semesters/years by the aggregate maximum marks (including optional/honours subjects), then multiplying by 100.
- If your university uses a Grade Point System (CGPA/OGPA), you must convert it into a percentage as per your institute’s official conversion formula.
- You must provide valid documentary proof of the conversion method during the interview/document verification.
- Note: Any fraction in percentage will be ignored—e.g., 59.99% will be treated as less than 60%, and 54.99% as less than 55%
IBPS PO Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

1.Preliminary Examination
The Preliminary Exam is the first stage of the IBPS PO 2025 selection process.
It consists of three sections: English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. Each section is timed separately for 20 minutes, making the total exam duration 60 minutes. The total number of questions is 100, carrying 100 marks in total. Candidates must secure minimum cut-off marks in each section to qualify for the Mains exam.
2. Mains Examination
The Main Exam includes both Objective and Descriptive tests. It comprises four objective sections—Reasoning, General Awareness, English, and Data Analysis which carried 200 marks. An additional Descriptive Paper (Essay and Letter Writing) of 25 marks is also conducted. The total duration of the Main Exam is 3 hours and 30 minutes (including the descriptive part). Candidates must qualify this stage to proceed to the Personality Test and Interview.
3. Personality Test
The Personality Test involves a self-report questionnaire assessing behavioral traits.
It is not qualifying in nature but must be attended to proceed to the interview.
The personality profile will be shared with the interview panel for reference.
It helps in understanding the candidate’s aptitude and suitability for a banking role.
The test must be taken seriously as it forms part of the overall assessment.
4. Interview
Candidates shortlisted in the IBPS PO Mains and Personality Test will be called for an Interview conducted by participating banks. The interview carries 100 marks, with a minimum qualifying mark of 40% (35% for reserved categories). The final selection is based on a combined score of Mains and Interview in an 80:20 ratio.
