How many times is the GATE exam conducted in a year?

This national-level exam is conducted once a year. Indian nationals and foreign candidates are eligible to give this exam and get admission in the Post-Graduate programs in some reputed institutes like IITs, NITs etc or to get recruited by some PSUs through GATE exam.

Can I use a physical calculator during the GATE exam?

No, a physical calculator is not allowed in the exam. Candidates are provided with a virtual calculator. Before appearing for the exam, getting familiar with the GATE virtual calculator is advised.

What is a good rank in the GATE exam?

A GATE score under 200 is considered a good rank in the GATE exam for admission to IITs. To get placed in PSUs through the GATE exam, candidates must score under 100. While in the case of NITs, a rank under 300 is also considered good.

Can I give a GATE exam after BCA?

Candidates from BCA backgrounds are not eligible for the GATE exam. Those who fall under the following courses are eligible. However, candidates who have done their MCA are still eligible for the GATE Exam.

How much CGPA is required for GATE?

According to the eligibility criteria, no minimum CGPA or percentage is required to appear for the exam. Candidates with backlogs can also sit for the exam provided they clear their backlogs and provide the no backlog certificate upon qualifying for the GATE exam.

Can I change my GATE exam city after submitting the online application form?

Yes, only after the last date for online submission of applications, a request for the change of examination city or category will be entertained. The last date for this requiest has not been announced yet. Along with additional payment and any request post this date will not be considered.

For how many GATE papers can I apply?

One can apply for ONE or TWO papers (from the given set of combinations in the GATE information brochure) out of the 30 papers listed in the GATE Official website. The choice of the appropriate paper is the sole responsibility of the candidate.
